Wednesday, October 1st, 2014: Youngster Matt Dunlap emerged as the latest American Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Detroit deserved the honor, batting .413 with 7 home runs and 23 RBI. Is the month of September a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Dunlap enjoy the limelight.
This season Dunlap is swinging the bat at a .321 rate with 200 hits in 624 at-bats. To date he has hit 47 home runs, scored 99 runs and driven in 139.
