| Breaking News |  | Evans Red-Hot, CAL Player of the Week Monday, April 20th, 2015: At the age of 28, Boyd Evans might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Lake Elsinore center fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .424 batting average. For his efforts Evans collected the California League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 14 hits in 33 at-bats, 3 home runs and 14 RBIs last week in 7 games.
|  | Yates on Fire: 5-6 for Lake Elsinore Saturday, April 18th, 2015: It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Eric Yates. It was a very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Yates went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Bakersfield pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Drifters Ballpark, he had a career 5-6 day and something he will long remember. And the Lake Elsinore Storm had a 16-2 victory over the Blaze.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview.
E. Yates flied out in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and walked in the 9th.

It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Júlio Mateo of the Lancaster JetHawks had a sensational 5-5 game against High Desert at Lords Ballpark. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 5-2 shellacking of the Mavericks.
In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off... Right, skipper?"
