Saturday, July 1st, 2017: Which Midwest League hurler dominated in the month of June?
According to the voters who decide the Midwest League Pitcher of the Month award, it was Chris Houston of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
He put together a record of 5-1 with an ERA of 3.60 in 6 starting assignments. In addition, he struck out 25 in 45 innings.
On the season Houston has compiled a 11-2 mark with a 3.09 ERA in 16 starts. In pitching 116.2 innings he has 63 strikeouts and 30 walks while limiting the opposition to a .250 batting average. |

Saturday, July 1st, 2017: Felipe Hernández is on a tear! After posting a .348 average in June, the Fort Wayne first baseman took home the Midwest League Batter of the Month award handed out earlier today.
He cracked 31 hits with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs and scored 32 runs. The 24-year-old also collected 26 free passes and posted a .500 on-base percentage.
This season-to-date Hernández has 20 home runs and a .331 batting average. |

Tuesday, June 27th, 2017: Emílio Flores of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers whitewashed the Peoria Chiefs 4-0 in a complete-game win, limiting them to 5 hits while chalking up 4 strikeouts and giving up no walks.
Talking to BNN writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Emílio is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."
In season stats Flores shows a 6-3 record in 16 games, 64.2 innings, 36 strikeouts and a 5.15 ERA. |
