| | 5-Hit Game for Baker Saturday, April 18th, 2015: "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Ed Baker after his 5-hit performance against the Grasshoppers. "No offense meant to Greensboro, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Greeneville Grounds."
The Greeneville catcher had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 15-1 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Ed worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Baker said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
E. Baker singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
This year Baker is batting .477 with 2 home runs. | | | | | Yesterday's Games - | | Away Team | Home Team | Result | Time | Winning Pitcher | Losing Pitcher | | Delmarva | Lake County | 5-6 | 6:30 pm | S.Dand (1-0, 4.73 ERA) | L.García (0-4, 12.71 ERA) | | Lexington | Hickory | 7-6 | 7:00 pm | L.Báez (1-0, 2.16 ERA) | R.Brown (0-2, 13.50 ERA) | | Rome | Savannah | 4-6 | 7:00 pm | M.Thomas (1-0, 3.12 ERA) | G.Williams (0-4, 7.64 ERA) | | Asheville | Greensboro | 5-6 | 7:05 pm | B.Thomas (1-0, 2.57 ERA) | J.Fullerton (1-2, 4.00 ERA) | | Greeneville | Kannapolis | 6-8 | 7:05 pm | C.Shirek (1-0, 2.70 ERA) | M.Jones (0-1, 3.86 ERA) | | Charleston | Augusta | 9-6 | 7:05 pm | C.Sharpe (2-0, 7.50 ERA) | B.Roller (0-1, 1.69 ERA) | | Hagerstown | Lakewood | 3-2 | 7:05 pm | J.August (1-2, 4.64 ERA) | F.Romano (2-1, 0.69 ERA) | | West Virginia | Columbus | 8-4 | 7:05 pm | Á.Flores (2-0, 3.57 ERA) | M.Harrison (0-2, 5.74 ERA) | | | Today's Games - | | Away Team | Home Team | Time | Starting Pitcher Away Team | Starting Pitcher Home Team | | Hagerstown (6-10, Road: 4-5) | Lakewood (15-1, Home: 8-1) | 4:05 pm | RHP H.Richardson (1-1, 8.10 ERA) | RHP A.Fletcher (3-0, 0.00 ERA) | | Delmarva (5-11, Road: 1-8) | Lake County (6-10, Home: 4-5) | 6:30 pm | LHP C.Pagán (0-1, 7.50 ERA) | RHP D.Hammond (0-1, 3.09 ERA) | | Augusta (2-13, Road: 1-5) | Rome (3-13, Home: 1-6) | 7:00 pm | RHP J.James (0-3, 3.50 ERA) | LHP C.Savage (1-0, 6.06 ERA) | | Kannapolis (13-3, Road: 7-1) | Hickory (7-9, Home: 6-2) | 7:00 pm | LHP A.King (1-0, 0.57 ERA) | RHP J.Smith (1-1, 4.95 ERA) | | Columbus (5-11, Road: 2-6) | Lexington (3-12, Home: 1-7) | 7:05 pm | RHP R.Moore (0-2, 3.20 ERA) | RHP W.Taylor (0-2, 7.90 ERA) | | Greeneville (11-5, Road: 5-3) | Asheville (10-6, Home: 8-0) | 7:05 pm | RHP B.Poor (1-2, 4.00 ERA) | LHP T.Harada (2-0, 1.61 ERA) | | Greensboro (4-11, Road: 1-7) | West Virginia (10-5, Home: 5-2) | 7:05 pm | LHP L.Pitts (1-2, 5.60 ERA) | RHP B.Harper (2-0, 0.90 ERA) | | Savannah (14-1, Road: 6-0) | Charleston (11-4, Home: 4-2) | 7:05 pm | LHP J.Guzmán (0-1, 5.40 ERA) | RHP W.Cole (0-1, 3.95 ERA) | | |
