Appalachian League Names Best Hitter
Sunday, September 14th, 2014: Josh Nelson of the Bristol Sox proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Appalachian League Outstanding Hitter Award.

Nelson hit for a .375 average while collecting 94 hits, 27 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 57 RBIs and scoring 52 times.

Saturday, September 13th, 2014: The Winston-Salem clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Stan Ware will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2014 Appalachian League Outstanding Pitcher Award.

Ware made 12 starts this year, winning 10 and losing 0. He threw 82 innings, fanned 45, allowed 43 hits and 16 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .148 average as he logged an impressive 0.44 ERA.

Friday, September 12th, 2014: "Hit 'em where they ain't" is a great hitting philosophy, but it doesn't always work when a fielder can seemingly appear out of nowhere to make the play. These magicians are often taken for granted as the season grinds along, but today they take center stage. The Appalachian League Glove Wizard Award selections for 2014 are:
